Il progetto si articola in due prodotti, saldamente legati tra loro: il volume cartaceo e le risorse digitali. Il libro si compone di una serie di Unit tematiche, a loro volta suddivise in quattro Lesson, ciascuna dedicata a uno specifico argomento di inglese legale, per fornire un testo agile ma che presenti una struttura robusta e integrata di letture ed esercizi volti a testare e incrementare le principali competenze linguistiche del lettore. In chiusura di ogni Unit un Caso di Studio, pensato per favorire il Critical Thinking e il lavoro di gruppo.
Legal English consists of both the printed book and a unique MyLab digital platform. The volume presents an overview of the Law divided into ten thematic Units: starting with a presentation of the British legal system followed by in-depth coverage of the core legal subjects and their related linguistic context. Each of the ten units contains four lessons on different topics concerning a particular area of Law. The book also offers a varied combination of revision exercises at the end of each Lesson to help students assess how well they have mastered the concepts covered in a lively and engaging way. Each unit contains two pages devoted to leading cases which constitute important legal precedents in English and American common law. At the end of each Unit, the Writing Corner presents learners with real situations of writing in order to make them apply their Legal English writing skills with real situations of writing.
The Authors
Sofia Parastatidou is a practising solicitor of England and Wales. She is now based in Italy where she trains lawyers, accountants and notaries through their local bar and professional associations. She is a lecturer delivering highly specialised Legal English courses, dedicated to contract drafting skills, international commercial law and soft skills such as advocacy and public speaking. She is a founder and President of ILETA - International Legal English Teachers' Academy. The Academy specializes in delivering teacher training accreditation, courses, workshops, and conferences to aspiring Legal English professionals.
Jacopo D’Andria Ursoleo is an expert in both TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Language Testing, and currently serves as Supervisor and Invigilator at the Bristish Council (Milan) for both IELTS and Cambridge Assessment English exams. He is active in the ELT industry as author and editor for several international publishers and has written a wide range of ELT resources, with a particular focus on textbooks for English language exams and how best to prepare for them.
Kate Gralton is an English teacher based in Italy, specializing in both young learners and Business English, and is currently active as a Cambridge Assessment English Speaking Examiner at all levels. She is author of a number of English Language exam training books and ELT textbooks. She regularly edits academic research papers, particularly in the field of Statistics.
